If you choose to substitute the silk floss with an over-dyed cotton, please be aware that Belle Soie is five yards long with twelve strands, whereas most over-dyed cottons are five yards with six strands (half as much floss). This design would also look wonderful stitched in a red or green floss for Christmas.
